A Little Easter Drama

We were very excited about Easter this year. Matt was not working, and the weather promised some sunshine and decent temps. We planned to go to church, have an Easter egg hunt in the backyard, and eat a yummy meal. Jillian had been ill off and on for several days, but seemed to be back to her normal self when she woke that morning. We got all ready for church, and then Jillian got to peek in her basket to see what the Easter Bunny left for her.

She also enjoyed opening a package from Grandpa and Debbie

(Jillian was very lucky to get a basket from several Easter "bunnies" over the course of the week--big thank yous to all her grandparents and our wonderful neighbors!)
Daddy had fun trying on Jillian's bunny ears...

And Jillian posed like a big girl in the rocking chair (I think we need to work on sitting in a ladylike fashion!)

A short while later, we walked into church with a lovely little lady holding our hands, only to find her acting as if she was going to get sick again just a few minutes later. A bout of gagging and fussing left us puzzled, so we walked back to the car and just came home. She seemed much better once we got home, so we let her get some fresh air outside and tried to take some pictures of her in her Easter dress. Grandma sent her this dress when she was just a fetus, so I had been waiting quite awhile for her to be able to wear it. I was so glad that it fit for this year

or about having to "sit" for a picture, either!

We decided to take it easy the rest of the day, and all of us enjoyed a nap. Jillian woke in a cranky mood, and it was clear she was not feeling 100%. We went for a walk together and listened to her fuss about it most of the way. I then set out to cook dinner and Matt and Jillian decided to do some "yard work". This consisted of Matt raking/pruning things and Jillian using her snow shovel to "rake" with him. I wish I had a picture of that one! Very cute. Unfortunately, this adventure didn't last long, and it ended with Jillian falling off the front steps. Matt heard a horrible cracking noise when he looked down for a split second to make a clip on the rose bush. She settled down fairly quickly, but got a nasty gash on her forehead and bump on the back of her head. We decided to take her to the ER to be on the safe side, where all agreed she was OK. It was another scary moment for us as the parents of our thrill-seeking wild child, and we are just grateful that she came out of this relatively unscathed.
ouch
We made it home from the ER and managed to salvage (and enjoy) the Easter dinner we abandoned mid-prep. Jillian had a very difficult evening due to some severe constipation (resulting from the bland, carb-heavy diet she had eaten most of the week due to vomiting) that left all of us in tears. Let's just say we were relieved when we finally got her settled down for a good night's sleep! All's well that ends well.
