Wedding Weekend Whirlwind

Aunt Mal and Uncle John got married on September 3rd, and it was a wild whirlwind weekend full of festivities. It all began with me waking up on the morning we left with a horrible stomach virus that rendered me virtually worthless. We managed to make it to KC (puke bucket rode in my lap the whole way) just in time to change for the rehearsal. I skipped it to rest, and Matt (an usher) and Jillian (the flower girl) joined the rest of the family. I managed to be semi-functional on the day of the wedding thanks to Aunt Meggie's anti-nausea medication--it pays to have a pregnant sister! Aunt Mal was a radiant bride...see?

And that is about the only picture I took of the entire event. Sad, but true. Picture taking proved to be an especially difficult task while wrangling the wild child. I am waiting to see some pics from the photographer, but am thankful for a cousin's shots of Jillian in full flower girl attire that she graciously shared with me.

She was cute. You get the idea. She was NOT cute at the reception, but that is a whole other story.

The day after the wedding, we headed over to Grandpa and Debbie's for the rest of the weekend. We also attended another wedding reception of my dear friend Robin that evening. Luckily, Grammy and Grandad attended as well, and they helped entertain Jilly Bean so we could visit and eat. Again, no pictures were taken, but I assure you it was a beautiful evening.

Sunday morning, we went out to breakfast with Grandpa and Debbie (where Jillian devoured about six mini-pancakes a ton of scrambled eggs) and then headed over to a local lake. We were on a mission: Grandpa wanted to take Jillian on her first fishing adventure!

Grandpa loaded the hook and showed Jiji the worm

We caught the first (and only!) fish right away. What fun!

Jilly decided she was big enough to try this herself.

A quick family photo to mark the occasion

Jillian really was mostly interested in the worms. She wanted to hold the box, and play with them. She wasn't the least bit afraid.

All that fishing action and she even managed to take time to enjoy the flowers!
