Easter Weekend

We headed down to Des Moines on Thursday evening for a portion of Easter weekend to visit Grammy, Grandad, The Widmers, and The Leaches. Unfortunately, Grandad was in the hospital, but we made sure to terrorize the unit daily with trips to visit him. In keeping with tradition, Jillian enjoyed some Krispy Kreme donuts with Grandad, but it seems I have no pictures of that event.
It had been nearly 4 months since we'd seen Baby Jack, so we were especially excited to see how much he'd changed. Jillian insisted that she take a bath with him, so we loaded the kids in the tub on Friday evening.
Rub-a-dub-dub, 2 cousins in the tub!

Jillian begins to grow curious about what is underneath the washcloth

Eventually her curiosity gets the best of her, and she had to take a peek.

Uncle John made a special request to dye Easter eggs with Jillian, so on Saturday morning, that is what they did. This was Jillian's first time doing so, and it was funny to watch 3 grown men (Daddy, Uncle John, and Uncle D) try to coach her to be gentle through this activity. Thank goodness for hard-boiled eggs!

What do you mean I'm supposed to be gentle with the eggs?

Soon it was time to get all dolled up to go and meet the Easter bunny with Baby Jack. Daddy helped get Jillian dressed and even did her hair--nice work, Daddy!

We were a bit unsure as to how Jillian would respond to her first meeting with the Easter bunny, since she absolutely refused to meet Santa at Christmas time. A little mood music playing in the mall definitely helped break the ice!

A couple of cute kids pose tentatively with the bunny

The fun at the mall didn't end there. They had a great little choo-choo train for kids to ride. Jillian and Jack agreed to ride as long as Daddy went along! Jillian had fun ringing the bell all the way around the track.

Finally, we made a stop at a Build-A-Bear type of store on a whim. Jillian selected what is now her beloved unicorn, which she named "Pinkie"

After filling Pinkie with adequate stuffing and picking out a star to go inside, Jillian was eager to beautify her at the "salon"

After a visit to the hospital and a good long nap, Jillian woke to find the Easter bunny had visited Grammy's a day early! She had fun examining her new loot and finding plastic eggs around the house.

We made our way home early Easter morning since Daddy had to work up in Hastings for the day. He was able to get home mid-afternoon, just in time for us all to enjoy some nice-ish weather. That Easter bunny is tricky, and once again visited during nap time. He also took time to hide some eggs outside, which gave Jillian the opportunity to try out her new shades....I think Elton John would approve, don't you?

Jillian was also the lucky recipient of two fun Easter packages from grandparents that she enjoyed opening when they arrived in the mail.
Thanks to Grandma and Pop Pop, we now have a lovely little fairy residing in our home. She is rather attached to this ensemble, and is determined to fly. She keeps saying, "Put me up in the sky, Mommy!" Oh dear, I wonder what I will find her trying to jump off of to accomplish this dream??

Finally, she loved discovering what was inside of this fun rabbit Easter basket from Grandpa and Debbie.

Thank you to all the "Easter Bunnies" who spoiled her with such fun treats!
